The Idaho Education Association (IEA) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Business/Membership Associate to support our Business Office team. This position focuses primarily on accounts receivable, cash receipts processing, membership records, and related bookkeeping and administrative functions.

This opportunity is being offered as a temporary-to-hire position. The initial assignment is expected to last approximately 10 weeks, with the potential for regular hire based on organizational needs and budget approval.

The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping and organizational skills, experience with accounts receivable or financial recordkeeping, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.

Accounts Receivable / Business & Membership Associate (Temp-to-Hire)

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Business and Finance, the Business/Membership Associate is responsible for processing and recording daily cash receipts and membership transactions for the Idaho Education Association (IEA) and the IEA Children’s Fund. This position also supports the Business Office team with a variety of accounting, membership, and administrative functions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clerical, administrative, or secretarial experience
    • Relevant college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute for up to one (1) year of experience
  • Bookkeeping coursework or at least one (1) year of bookkeeping experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher
  • Strong bookkeeping and recordkeeping skills, including accounts receivable and accounts payable support
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to learn advanced computer systems and electronic banking processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process and record daily cash receipts for IEA and the IEA Children’s Fund
  • Assist with membership dues collection and processing, including electronic funds transfer (EFT) transactions
  • Maintain accurate membership records in coordination with business office staff, local leadership, school districts, and region associates
  • Perform membership and dues accounting functions, including:
    • Monthly dues billings
    • Dues refunds
    • EFT failure follow-up
    • Membership and PAC contribution cancellations
  • Prepare, process, and follow up on miscellaneous billing items and reimbursements
  • Prepare and record periodic transfers between IEA accounts
  • Prepare routine and year-end reports related to cash receipts and membership records
  • Maintain organized filing systems for financial and membership documentation
  • Support membership campaigns, correspondence, and solicitation efforts
  • Provide membership reports and forms to staff as requested
  • Assist with accounts payable functions
  • Assist with daily business office mail distribution
  • Support payroll and employee benefits record administration
  • Assist in answering incoming headquarters office phone calls
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
